World’s Fattest Cat Gets Stuck in Shoe Rack While Trying To Escape From Fat Camp

A flabby feline named Crumbs tried to escape a diet center but failed horribly after getting trapped in a shoe rack. The obese cat had been sentenced to a strict workout regimen and food rationing in Perm, Russia a little over a week ago after being found in the basement of a Russian hospital. Prior to taking up residence beneath the hospital, Crumbs is believed to have been abandoned by his owners. This is an infrequent case when someone so loved a cat that they fed him to such a state, a spokesperson for the veterinary diet center in Perm explained.

Photos show the 38-pound rescue feline wedged between the bars of the shoe rack with his face stuffed in a bright blue Croc. According to The Post, Crumbs was extremely displeased when he was found disguised as slippers. However, he mellowed out after a portion of food. Named for his ability to hoover up food, Crumbs had reportedly been fed a diet of cookies and soup, which caused him to balloon up to a scale-shattering 37.47 pounds. The real-life fat cat is so heavy he couldn’t even walk and was found defecating on himself.

According to PetMD, the ideal weight for the average healthy cat is 8-12 pounds, albeit a cat's weight depends on its breed and age. In an effort to get the obese cat down to a normal weight, clinic vets put Crumbs on a pound-shedding pilgrimage that included a new diet and regular treadmill workouts. Other photos show Crumbs with a shaved belly that makes it easier to dry following his aquatic aerobics sessions.

Crumbs' escape bid is actually a sign that he is slowly improving, says Ekaterina Bedakova, a rehabilitation specialist. According to an article published by The Sun on Sep 16, 2024, Crumbs' time in the diet clinic has paid off - with him shedding more than 2.2lbs (1kg) already.
