Incredible Video Shows Australian Shepherd 'Splitting the Housework' with Owner

Promise, the Australian Shepherd

Australian Shepherds are herding dogs that are happiest when they have a job to perform. They're a very devoted breed that loves working and being with their families. Aussies are an energetic breed and therefore need plenty of activities to keep their minds busy and bodies content. Now, of course, the Aussie is very smart. Besides herding livestock, the breed is talented at many other things as well, such as helping their owners at home.

Not too long ago, I shared a video of an Australian Shepherd happily helping his owner after a hard day at work. On September 5th, Mary Peters, a popular Australian Shepherd owner in Washington State, shared a video that shows how her Australian Shepherd helps her around the house. The impressive video quickly went viral on TikTok, amassing over 10 million views and 76 thousand comments. If Mary and her dog could start a business with this, you'd totally pay for them to come and clean your house!

The dog in the above video is a two-year-old merle Australian Shepherd named Promise. Mary adopted Promise shortly after the sad passing of her first dog Secret, who was also a hard-working Australian Shepherd. Promise loves Mary as much as Secret did. She really loves to help out! In the above video, Promise can be seen putting laundry away, cleaning up spills, and helping Mary make the bed. Promise likes herding the mess around the house!

When they're not busy doing household chores, Mary and Promise are typically together napping, playing, or walking. Promise needs a lot of mental and physical stimulation, and she gets it! Cleaning is just another way to keep her mind and body busy. Believe it or not, this is legitimately a solid form of physical and mental enrichment.

According to Mary, Promise is a very happy girl. Keeping your pup happy involves a lot more than just hugging them or spending lots of money on them. Some of the world's most-spoiled, most-loved dogs are still bored. All dogs, especially the high-energy ones, need physical and mental enrichment, including lots of interaction with you.
