Australian Shepherd With Bone Stuck Around Bottom Jaw Rescued by Indiana Firefighters

An Australian Shepherd With Bone Stuck Around his Bottom Jaw

An Australian Shepherd in Bloomington, Indiana, found himself in an unfortunate situation after his bone became stuck around his bottom jaw, prompting a rescue by firefighters. According to the Bloomington Fire Department, the Australian shepherd named Enzo and his concerned owners arrived at Station 5 Tuesday after the dog got his bone stuck around his lower jaw.

After inspecting Enzo, firefighters contacted an emergency veterinary clinic where Enzo was subsequently taken. There, Enzo was sedated and the Squad, using a Dremel, safely removed the bone, bringing the situation to an awesome end! Although the Bloomington Fire Department is glad that Enzo is safe and things worked out so well for him, they have an important message for dog owners.

"Please use extreme caution when giving your dog bones to chew on," the Department wrote on its Facebook page, adding, "Not only can they become choking hazards but, like in Enzo's incident, they can get stuck around their jaws, too." Enzo is now safe at home with his owners.
