According to Wag Walking, the Australian Retriever originated in the U.S. in 2007. This makes the Australian Retriever a relatively new hybrid dog. As such, the Australian Retriever is rare and therefore may be difficult to find in any normal adoption agency.
Given how rare this hybrid dog is, internet users are flocking to a TikTok account featuring an adorable Golden Aussie. Named Goose, the dog is 50% Australian Shepherd and 50% Golden Retriever. While many people think Goose is so 'wild looking,' the dog's owner, Brandy Clark, thinks he is 'perfect.' According to Clark, Goose's dad is a purebred blue merle Aussie while his mom is a purebred Golden Retriever.
Consequently, Goose combines the merle pattern of the Aussie with the Golden Retriever's floppy ears. "This is the best dog mix," says Clark in the caption of one of her videos.
Clark says they are frequently stopped by people who wonder more about Goose and say, "He's so wild-looking." To Clark, however, Goose is nothing but a perfect dog.
Blue merle is one of the officially recognized colors of the Australian shepherd breed. This unique coloring, which is a combination of white, black, and gray, is a favorite among canine enthusiasts. With black spots covering his face and entire body, this color pattern shines bright on Goose's coat. His long hair is gray-blue coloring and the white fur around his neck looks like a lion's mane. This gives Goose a wild-looking appearance.
Goose has a Basset Hound sibling, which he considers a playmate.
